The Bane Grams is the musical alter ego of singer-songwriter Gerben Gerrit. Self-taught and instinctive, he has developed a way of writing and playing in which simplicity leaves room for intensity. His songs often begin small: a voice, a guitar, a thought that refuses to disappear.
From there, they can go anywhere.
His roots lie in rock, but his musical world reaches far beyond it. Elements of blues, jazz and alternative music find their way into the songs, creating a sound that can feel intimate and vulnerable one moment, uneasy and dramatic the next.
At the heart of The Bane Grams are songs about the things we accumulate along the way. Love, loss, memory, hope — the invisible weight of experience that slowly shapes who we become.
Sometimes crystal clear. Sometimes raw and abrasive.

"While producing this album has allowed me to grow as a songwriter and artist. With the completion of the making process, the last pieces of the puzzle fell into place: the final choice of song titles, album title and artist name. To my mind, I had to detach myself from myself, who I have known all my life as a creator. Bane Grams is a name that feels like a concept and I can wear like a jacket. With that, it is an entity that stands next to my person and is connected to the period, during which the album was created and I continued to form as a musician."
